Carbon emissions are the release of climate-potent carbon dioxide gases (CO2) which is released into the atmosphere. CO2 is the greenhouse gas which is released the most in terms of quantity, usually through the burning of fossil fuels. CO2 emissions from human activity is the single biggest major contributor to rising CO2 levels, primarily from the energy production and industry sectors. Emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases (GHGs) are the leading cause of climate change and global warming.
